The application Moovit can plan trips by public transport and will be available in all host cities of the Copa América.
The application has been available in Santiago and in the Region of Los Lagos for more than two years. Thanks to a collaborative plan between the Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications (MTT) and Moovit, the system will operate in eight cities, benefiting more than 9 million people, particularly during the Copa América.
Moovit’s key features are that it is free, it saves time and reduces uncertainty, it allows timely planning, it can receive and share information in real time, and it makes arrival to the final destination easier.
The first thing you should do to use Moovit is identify your smartphone’s operating system. Once the platform is identified, it is necessary to access the virtual store applications (App Store for Apple, Google Play for Android, and the Windows Phone app store) and search for Moovit.
Once downloaded and installed, open the program by tapping on the icon. The application first displays the GPS option to find your geographical position on a map.
To design a route to your destination just tap on any location or destination station for the buses that pass by. A button with the word ‘Go’ will display when touching any route. Once you click ‘Go’, the program will show you a list of destination sites.
After choosing your final destination, the program will draw a blue line on the map, indicating the route to follow.
Remember that the more users that have the application active at all times (even when it is closed), the better the results of the alerts and information will be in real time.
Users also may include information that will update and enrich the application.
